I’m Sarah, a registered social worker based in Calgary, Alberta. I’m currently completing my Master of Social Work practicum at Kindred Roots.
I became a social worker because I believe deeply in the power of healing relationships. Supporting people during times of change, vulnerability, grief and hardship has shown me the resilience of the human spirit and the value of a safe space to simply be.
My husband and I live in a character-filled home built in 1912, complete with charming quirks like original light switches and sugar glass windows. We have two dogs, Archie, a long-haired dachshund, and Indy, a Lab/Bully mix… as well as a backyard pond filled with koi and goldfish.
I’ve flown a plane before (my dad is a pilot and even built one in our garage), and a dream of mine is to one day earn my private pilot’s license. I love to travel and have been lucky to explore Vietnam, Peru, Australia, Spain, Italy — and most recently, Thailand.
Staying active has always been important to me. I grew up skiing and playing soccer, and now I prioritize daily movement, whether that’s walking the dogs or taking a spin class. I’m also an avid reader and usually get through over 50 books a year, ranging from professional development titles to romance and fantasy.
My Therapy Style is compassionate, genuine and growth-oriented!
