BECAUSE MENTAL HEALTH ISN’T JUST ‘IN YOUR HEAD.’

We all know the feeling of being "hangry" or that sluggish fog after a day of not eating well. But the connection between what we eat and how we feel goes much deeper than that. Your brain is the hungriest organ in your body, and it needs the right fuel to help you manage stress, regulate your emotions, and get the most out of your therapy sessions.

At Kindred Roots, we don’t believe in "good" foods or "bad" foods, and we definitely don’t do restrictive diets. Instead, we look at nutrition as a gentle, powerful tool to help you feel like yourself again. Our Registered Dietitian, Claire, works right alongside our therapists to make sure your body and mind are on the same team.

Hi, I’m CLAIRE!

CLAIRE IZCOVICH, MPH RD
Registered DIETITIAN

I believe that food should be a source of nourishment and joy, not a source of stress. With over 18 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian, I have dedicated my career to helping people rebuild their relationship with food and their bodies. I understand that eating is deeply personal and that "health" looks different for everyone.

As an "anti-diet" dietitian, I feel most aligned with weight-inclusive principles. This means I don’t focus on the scale; instead, I focus on how you feel. Whether I’m working with teens, adults, or families, my goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can explore mindful and intuitive eating.

Care from the Comfort of Your Home

Claire works exclusively through virtual sessions, allowing you to connect from the safety and comfort of your own space. This flexible, remote approach makes it easier to fit wellness into your busy life and ensures that our sessions take place wherever you feel most at ease—whether that’s in your living room or in your own kitchen.

When you sit down with Claire, you aren't just getting clinical advice; you’re getting a partner who will walk this journey with you. She’s here to help you move away from the noise of diet culture and toward a place of peace, flexibility, and genuine well-being.

We often think of mental health as something that happens only in the mind, but the brain is a physical organ that requires specific nutrients to function at its best. What we eat influences our neurotransmitters, our gut microbiome, and our body’s stress response.

By bringing a Registered Dietitian onto your care team, we address the biological foundations of mental health. This holistic approach ensures that while you do the emotional work in therapy, your body has the physiological support it needs to heal, regulate, and thrive.
