therapy office

My name is Mariah and I am a neurodivergent therapist living in Calgary with my husband, Caleb, and cat, Guilder. I deeply value relationships and those closest to me would describe me as adventurous, curious, and kind. When I am not at work, I can often be found enjoying long walks through my community, participating in my current hyperfixation (currently rock climbing and yoga), or embarking on spontaneous travels.

I support a range of clients including people experiencing neurodivergence (in themselves or someone close to them), anxiety, trauma, and those who struggle to know where to start with β€œfeeling their feelings.”

My therapy style is grounded in compassion and offers support on a variety of levels. At times, we may focus on adjusting your environment to better support your unique needs. At other times, our work may centre on developing practical strategies to help you navigate anxiety, manage difficult thoughts and feelings, or navigate relational challenges. And when your ready, we can move into the deeper work of healing core beliefs, processing past traumas, and expanding your capacity to feel emotions rather than avoid them. We will also work to help you build a kinder, more compassionate relationship with your self. Wherever you are at in your healing journey, I promise to come alongside you and help you take the next step.

My Therapy Style is relational, insightful, compassionate and practical.

Other Ways To Get To Know Me:

My β€œGo-To” Therapy Models

I am a deep and avid learner who has always been fascinated by people and why we act the way we do. This curiosity led me to complete my undergraduate degree in Behavioural Science where I focused my studies in developmental psychology, while also working and volunteering to support children and families within school, community, hospital, and hospice settings. I also spent two years working in a specialized preschool program, where I supported autistic children with emotional regulation, communication, and daily living tasks. These experiences guide my therapy practice as I work with children and families to address the challenges they face.

Wanting to expand my capacity to support adults, I pursued a Master of Social Work specializing in adult mental health and addiction. Since then, I have supported adults and families navigating neurodivergence, crises, trauma, and grief through roles with the Calgary Counselling Centre, the Distress Centre, Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse, and a long-term care facility. These experiences have been foundational in shaping my approach to therapy. Through learning practical tools and tapping into your body’s innate wisdom, we will work collaboratively to overcome the challenges that are getting in the way of the life you want to live.

THERAPY SHOULD FEEL LIKE:

Warm sun on your back while dipping your feet in the cold ocean: having challenging conversations while still feeling safe.
