Clarity. Answers. Roadmap.
Tired of Guessing?
Let's Get to the Root of It.
You've been navigating challenges in school, at work, in relationships and you've done the hard work of seeking support. But sometimes, you need more than just coping strategies. You need answers.
If you're feeling stuck, wondering "Is this just me, or is something else going on?" then a comprehensive psychological assessment might be your next step toward true clarity.
Say goodbye to the uncertainty and embrace a deeper understanding of how you or your child's brain works. Registered Psychologist & Educator, Monica Crane-Spracklin can move you past the confusing "why" and onto a clear, personalized "how to move forward."
What is a Psychological Assessment?
Think of it as the ultimate deep dive—a detailed, clinical map of your (or your child's) unique cognitive, emotional, and behavioral landscape.
It’s more than a simple diagnosis; it’s a personalized blueprint that explains your strengths, challenges, and how to access the right support.
Assessments for Every Chapter of Life
At Kindred Roots, Registered Psychologist & Educator, Monica Crane-Spracklin, offers a safe and warm space to conduct comprehensive assessments for all ages.
For Kids & Teens
Building a Better Foundation
If your child is struggling in school, having big emotions they can’t manage, or facing social challenges, an assessment can unlock their potential. We help you understand the why behind the behaviour so you can stop guessing and start supporting effectively.
We offer clarity on:
Learning Difficulties: Understanding why school feels so hard and creating academic success plans.
ADHD: Identifying attention challenges and providing strategies for better focus and organization.
Emotional & Behavioural Challenges: Pinpointing underlying issues like anxiety, depression, or emotional regulation struggles.
Giftedness: Identifying high potential and ensuring your child is appropriately challenged.
For ADULTS
REWRITING YOUR STORY
It's never too late to understand yourself better. Maybe you’ve always felt "different," or maybe the challenges of modern life have left you burnt out and struggling to keep up. An assessment can validate your experience and give you the language and tools you need to thrive.
We offer clarity on:
Adult ADHD: Finally understanding lifelong struggles with focus, time management, and organization.
Anxiety & Depression: Identifying the specific factors contributing to your mental health struggles.
Cognitive Functioning: Understanding your unique thinking, problem-solving, and processing styles to optimize your life and career.
A Deeper Self-Compassion: Gaining validation and a non-judgmental understanding of your core self.
Hey, I’m MONICA!
Registered clinical Psychologist & educator
I live in a little corner of the woods in Foothills County with my husband and a gaggle ofpets. I’m originally from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia — you can probably tell from my accent and my love of the ocean! I’m usually on the go, but when I’m home, you’ll find me throwing pottery, painting, or pampering our doggie duo. Otherwise, I’m at our practice or at my school — I’m also a public school principal!
I feel privileged to be able to connect my skills, passions, and experiences from both psychology and education to best support my clients and my students.
To me, assessments are like placing that last piece of the puzzle. They help make sense of the bigger picture — offering clarity, direction, and understanding. I love seeing that moment when everything clicks, and you begin to understand yourself in a new way. It’s not about labeling or defining; it’s about understanding how you learn, think, and feel. Once that picture becomes clear, we celebrate strengths, address challenges, and move forward with confidence and purpose.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and holistic — I take time to really get to know youand tailor assessments and supports to your unique strengths and needs. I’ve been working with youth, adults, couples, and families for over 20 years in both educational and community settings. These experiences have taught me the importance of compassion, curiosity, and connection in helping others grow.
I began my career in Cape Breton, completing a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Psychology, followed by a Bachelor of Education from St. Francis Xavier University. After teaching in the UK, I settled in Calgary and began my Alberta teaching career in 2007. I later earned my Master of Counselling degree and expanded my work as a teacher, school principal, and psychologist. Over the past decade, I’ve worked in both non-profit and private practice settings, staying committed to ongoing learning and evidence-based assessment. I also supervise provisional psychologists and offer training for educators and mental health professionals on resilience, diverse learners, and trauma-informed practice.

Absolutely… and in some cases, we would recommend it! People often choose to have one therapist for individual sessions and another for couples or family work. Further, you can see our Path and Purpose Coach and consent to have the information shared with your therapist for continuity of care!
